Coconut or Cocos Nucifera is a fruit which has numerous benefits and can be used in various ways. Grown mostly in a tropical region near coastal areas, Coconut is a fruit of coconut palm. The coconut comprises of three parts, exocarp, mesocarp, which is a fibrous husk and endocarp which is a with a fleshy edible part inside. Coconuts sold in the shops of non tropical countries often have had the exocarp (outermost layer) removed. The mesocarp is composed of a fibre, called coir, which has many popular and monetary uses. The shell has three germination pores (micropyles) or “eyes” that are visible on its outside surface once the husk is removed.

Coconut resembles as an essential food ingredient in the mid-western and southern part of India. The coconut is used in curries, sweet dishes and as a medicine in India. Coconut is exported on a large scale in other countries. Coconut apart from eating is used for making handicraft materials, and several other necessary items.
